Training
Built around one measurable outcome: that an adult, months after the session, can still tell the difference between listening and interrogating — and still chooses listening while frightened.
Audience tracks
| Track | For | Emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| Universal | Any adult around children | The four steps, wording, and the reporting duty where they live |
| Education | Teachers, education assistants, school leaders | Classroom disclosures, staff handoff, records, family communication |
| Sport & recreation | Coaches, volunteers, club officials | Changing rooms, travel, one-to-one contact, club culture |
| Faith communities | Clergy, youth workers, volunteers | Confidentiality expectations, pastoral pressure, institutional loyalty |
| Childcare & early years | Early years staff | Pre-verbal and early-verbal communication, developmental language |
| Health | Clinicians, allied health | Incidental disclosure, examination context, professional duties |
| Leadership | Boards, executives, safeguarding leads | Policy design, response quality measurement, second-injury risk |
Learning objectives
By the end, a participant should be able to:
- State the four steps without prompting.
- Distinguish an open invitation from a leading question in a written scenario.
- Identify three things they should not say, and explain why each is harmful.
- Record a child's words in a form a professional could use.
- Name the reporting route that applies to them personally.
- Describe what happens after they report, well enough not to be surprised by it.
Assessment is scenario-based, not a quiz on definitions. We are trying to change behaviour under stress, and recall of a definition does not predict that.
What we will not claim
- We do not offer certification, and will not use the word until standards exist and an external body has reviewed them.
- We do not describe this material as evidence-based until specialists have reviewed it and we can name them.
- We do not train anyone to conduct investigative interviews. That is a different profession.
- We do not currently charge for training, because it is not finished.
