Policies that must exist before certain work starts
- Child safeguarding and reporting — before any direct contact with children or youth-serving delivery.
- Privacy and retention — before any personal data is collected beyond a contact form.
- Trauma-informed content and moderation — before any user-contributed content anywhere.
- Conflict of interest — before a board is seated.
- Research ethics and survivor consent — before the Second Injury Index collects a single response.
- Complaints and whistleblowing — before staff or volunteers are engaged.
- Media and allegation publication — before any media work involving individual cases.
- Vicarious trauma and staff wellness — before anyone works on this material regularly.
We are publishing this list before the policies exist so that the sequence is on the record and we can be held to it.
Standing commitments
- No individual is named or accused on this site or by this organisation.
- No child-safety or survivor-navigation information is ever put behind a paywall.
- No sponsorship or partnership that would compromise child safety, survivor agency or editorial independence.
- No sale of personal data, and no behavioural advertising based on trauma-related browsing.
- No AI system is trained on private survivor narratives without separate, specific, informed authorisation.
- Financial transparency published annually from the first year of operations.
Complaints and corrections
If this organisation gets something wrong — a fact, a resource record, a piece of guidance, or the way we treated you — the route is corrections. Until a board exists, complaints go to the founder, which is an obvious weakness and one of the reasons a board is a priority.
